I have read of TCM replacements, tranny rebuilds and replacements, valve body replacements, solenoid pack replacements, but I have read cases of the problem remaining after any one of these. This is getting real old and the wife is getting pissed. I went to 32's on it, but it did not start right away - like a year after. The only thing I can think of is the larger tires may be whacking out the VSS and TCM calculations. It seems to trigger around the time you push hard enough to drop into passing gear on the highway, so it drops 4th to 2nd instead of 4th to 3rd. The Jeep is my wife's and it happen more when I drive it, but it gets her too. Sometimes it repeats right away, sometimes multiple times, sometimes no repeat for a couple weeks. Pull over, turn off the Jeep, restart and drive with the limp mode cleared. CE light pops on and 30 sec to a minute later, limp mode kicks in and the trans drops to 2nd. The issue usually come on on the highway, often on an uphill climb. Checked the TCM connector and reset the TCM with no love. Did an fluid and filter change and so no signs of trouble with the internals. Limp mode issues started up out of the blue - no water, no hot trans, no issues to prompt it. DANG IT NO MORE WATER FOR ME!Īnother one with this problem. It's just weird it happened after I went through the water/mud hole. So I guess I need to take it apart and check the build date. If the build date range falls in between 30 replace the solenoid pack not the valve body** It also says this **If replacing the valve body assembly for DTC P1776 Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in LR Position first inspect the build date on the solenoid pack (Fig. check out the tsb that states "the switch valve is not in the solenoid pack it is in the valve body" He said the solenoid pack was not the problem. I was told by a chrysler tech that the switch valve is in the valve body. I just went and got in it and about a mile up the road the same thing. It has been sitting for about a week and I was hoping it was going to fix itself lol. It was a little damp in the plug but I dried it out and put dielectric grease on the plug. That was one of the first things I did was take the connector off and clean it. I've already read on the threads related. It doesn't have an external cooler it just has the cooler in the radiator. Did it somehow warp when I hit the water ? Or did it get too hot I'm guessing. What else do I have to do ? I've had two techs tell me it was the valve body. I've unplugged several connections just and cleaned. ![]() Then all of a sudden seems like when I'm on a small incline it downshifts into second and stays there unless I turn the key on and off. If I clear the code out I can drive a few miles up the road with it acting perfect shifting all the way into overdrive. I've already changed out the fluid and filter. Before ordering a valve body I'm just wanting to make sure it will fix it. After doing some research I've realized this is inside of the valve body. When I got home I ran the codes and it showed p1776 which means I have a solenoid switch valve sticking. I didn't pay any attention until I got out on the freeway and realized the tranny was stuck in 2nd gear. After going through some water my check engine light came on. I have a 2004 Jeep Unlimited Automatic with 27k Miles. ![]()
